WIT in the Community
WIT provides community education programs, trainings and technical assistance, in the Philadelphia region, to help the community understand the links between domestic violence, substance abuse, child abuse and community violence. Some of these services are free. Others are available on a fee-for-service basis. WIT can work to help your group develop knowledge and skills on the following topics, or we can design a program to meet your unique needs:
  • Domestic Violence: A Basic Overview
  • Domestic Violence and Substance Abuse
  • The Impact of Domestic Violence on Children
  • Domestic Violence in Lesbian/Bisexual Relationships
  • Teen Dating Violence
  • Domestic Violence in the Workplace
  • Domestic Violence & Safety Planning: How to Help Women & Their Children
  • The Clothesline Project (a visual display of t-shirts created by Survivors of Violence)

Community Education

WIT raises public awareness about how violence and substance abuse affect the community by speaking to groups, participating in panels, staffing tables at health and community fairs, and displaying The Clothesline Project (a visual display of t-shirts created by survivors of violence).

Trainings

WIT provides both one time workshops and on-going trainings. Trainings enhance each participant's ability to identify and understand the dynamics of domestic violence, to assit women and children who are experiencing abuse, and to collaborate with agencies and systems that can help families. Trainings and workshops are available both to the general community and to public and private institutions.

Technical Assistance

WIT consults with representatives from public and private institutions to help develop policies and procedures that address the safety and security needs of clients, employees and others within the institution who are being abused by a partner.

Request for a WIT Presentation

To request that WIT provide a community education program, training, technical assistance or a display of The Clothesline Project, please call WIT's Director of Community Education, Advocacy and Training at (215) 564-5301 ext. 130.
