Telephone Counseling
Women In Transition’s trained staff and volunteers offer
crisis intervention,
supportive counseling,
needs assessments, and
information and resource referrals to nearly
4,000 callers each year to: women who are using alcohol or other drugs; women calling with issues of domestic violence and substance abuse; women being battered by their same-sex partners; and callers with general issues such as relationship difficulties, surviving sexual assault or child abuse, depression; or job problems such as sexual harassment and discrimination.

Intake Assessment
During the intake phase, a woman
participates in sessions with a Women In Transition Counselor to determine the
extent of her needs, the
type of service best suited to meet her needs, and the help she needs to create a
personal goal plan of action.
LifeLine Peer Support Groups
The signature program of Women In Transition, the Groups are a series of psycho-educational groups which focus on
empowerment,
education, and
healing. The Groups
empower women to strengthen their self-confidence and self-esteem,
rebuild their lives after being controlled by domestic violence and/or substance abuse, and
develop broader life skills. The Lifeline group series concludes with the Survivors Group, which celebrates successful actions and accomplishments, and
reinforces skills to establish equal relationships that are free of violence and substance abuse. The Survivors Group is the basis for
realizing the overall goal of the Lifeline Group Series: involvement in WIT's Survivors Network. The Survivors Network promotes healing and nurtures leadership, civic activity and advocacy activities.
Individual Counseling
Through
individual counseling, women are
provided the opportunity to work on specific issues or goals. They learn to
develop survival skills and
access community resources such as job training, health care, welfare, and child care.
